Marianna, FL---The Chipola men's basketball team spent it's final home practice at the Johnson Health Center Friday, and now has it's focus on traveling to Kansas for Nationals.
Saturday around midday the Indians will bus it to Atlanta, and from there fly to Wichita, Kansas in advance of Nationals. Coach Pat Blake says they'll work out Sunday at Wichita State, before finishing the trip to Hutchinson by bus Sunday night.
As the third seed, the Indians get a bye and play their first game Wednesday, the players suffice it to say, are ready for the shot at another title.
"There is," says guard Carlos Morris "like coach says, just 24 teams still get to practice. It definitely is the best feeling in the world, words can't explain it."
"We're climbing a ladder, each day." adds guard Sam Cassell, Jr. the Panhandle and State Player of the Year. "Now we've just got to win a national championship. That would make it three of three. We won the conference, then we won the state. If we win the Nationals, can't nobody say nothing else about us."
Other than it would be the best Chipola team ever. Twice a national runner up, in '74 and oh-7, Chipola still gunning for that first national championship.
