Tuscaloosa, AL---You may be hearing Alabama fans uttering the expression "Say it ain't so" in the coming days. That's because it's becoming apparent Nick Saban just may hire Lane Kiffin as the Tide's next offensive coordinator.
Early Thursday the University of Alabama announced it's current Offensive Coordinator Doug Nussmeier is moving north to take the same position at Michigan.
It's tough to see that as a move upward, leaving the Tide for Michigan. The assumption has to be, despite Alabama averaging 38 points a game this season, Nussmeier was shown the door.
ESPN's Joe Schad reporting later Thursday former Tennessee and USC head coach Lane Kiffin interviewed with Saban sometime Thursday to replace Nussmeier!
Kiffin was a popular whipping boy during his brief time in the SEC while in Knoxville, often firing opposing fan bases up with his comments.
Even the Tennessee faithful found reason to dislike him given his rather quick departure when the chance to coach at USC came open after his one season in Knoxville.
