Panama City, FL-- There is big news for Phoenix Racing Tuesday. Team owner James Finch confirms he's worked out an
agreement with past Cup Champion Bill Elliott to drive the oh-9 car for at least of the upcoming Cup season. Elliott's been a part time Cup racer since the 2004 season, and his last Cup win came back in 2002 when he won Pocono and the Brickyard 400 in back to back weeks. Still he's one of the legends of this sport. He's racked up 44 wins on the Cup level, 55 poles, and back in 1988 he was the Cup champ.
Having Elliott on board should help Finch secure a long term sponsor, which James says is vital to running a full cup schedule this year. Until that sponsor is found, Finch will piece things together week to week, with the idea of running half the schedule, or 18 races, starting with the Daytona 500.
