Marianna, FL--On to the diamonds of the Panhandle Conference and it's a big weekend ahead for almost all the league's softball and baseball teams, as they open their respective regular seasons.
Some of them doing so with big road trips, others like the G.C. baseball team hosting opening tournaments. Jeff Johnson and the Chipola Indians, the Conference runnerup last year, one of the teams starting out on the road at a tourney in St. Pete and Clearwater this weekend.

¶"We're excited to get down and play in St. Pete this weekend. This will be a very competitive tournament, we got Manatee which won State last year, they're now State College of Florida, got Miami Dade second, St. Pete third and the Hillsborough, so it's a pretty tough run for us this weekend, but it will be pretty tough competition and give us a baseline of where we are and where we need to start from."

Indians hit the road Thursday for the Tampa area. The Lady Indians softball squad in Vegas this weekend for a tournament, the Lady Commodores down in Clearwater.
