Jelani Jenkins Leaving UF Early

Gainesville, FL---Will Muschamp and the Gators are losing another player in terms of early departures.

Monday Junior linebacker Jelani Jenkins announced he's going to forego his final year of eligibility with the Gators and jump to the 2013 NFL Draft. Jenkins played in 36 games at UF, with 31 starts.

Despite some injuries, 9 of those starts were this season, in which he made 29 tackles with 2 sacks and he had a pick in the game at Florida State. He also returned a blocked punt 36 yards for a touchdown with two seconds remaining to beat Louisiana Lafayette.

He joins defensive lineman Sharrif Floyd, safety Matt Elam and tight end Jordan Reed as other juniors departing Florida. Defensive lineman Dominque Easley could also be heading out.
