Panama City Beach, FL-- It's tough to take what you see during a spring scrimmage and equate that to a Saturday in the Fall, but after the 2013 Garnet and Gold Game, Seminole fans are getting fired up for, even something that has Coach Fisher excited,
"I love our team. I think we have a chance to be a very good football team. Good on offense, good on defense, good on special teams"
And a big reason for that excitement was redshirt Freshman Jameis Winston who dazzled Doak Campbell Stadium by going 12 of 15 for 205 yards and two touchdowns.
"You know having a great spring, or one game does not anoint you, but he's taken advantage of the opportunity he's had. He's played extremely well, feel very confident, if he is the guy. With Jacob Coker and Sean Maguire we'll continue to compete and have a great battle."
And though Fisher will use coach speak from now until the first game, the answer is fairly obvious,
"Well he's played extremely well, he's right in that hunt. He's at the top of that list there's no doubt. He's had a very good spring, very consistent in spring. But we have other talented guys too. Like I say it's a process but it's about consistency over a long period of time, not just one spring practice."
Besides Winston being at the top of the list, the writing was clearly written on the wall when, Clint Trickett, the starting quarterback going into Spring Practice, asked to transfer.
This came as a shock to everyone, including his high school coach and former FSU Quarterback Casey Weldon,
"Yeah, we've talked, we've talked. You know, he felt that with the situation that as it was, it was the best thing for him. He put himself in a great position to be able to do that. He graduated and now he can go to grad school and not have to lose a year. And so he felt it was the best thing to do, it gave him the best chance to play these last two years, so I'm happy for him"
It's always difficult to see someone leave, but in this case, Florida State fans have a lot to be excited for,
