TALLADEGA, Alabama (AP) -- Jimmie Johnson dipped to the inside at the finish line to edge Clint Bowyer by 0.002 seconds and win the Aaron's 499 NASCAR race at Talladega Superspeedway.
Four pairs of cars surged toward the line Sunday, and it took a replay to show that Johnson edged Bowyer by about 30 centimeters (1 foot).
It matched the closest finish in NASCAR Sprint Cup history. Johnson was pushed across the line by Dale Earnhardt Jr., who finished fourth. Pole-sitter Jeff Gordon, squeezed between Bowyer and Johnson and pushed by Mark Martin, settled for third.
