CHIPLEY, Fla- Chipley alum and Florida Gators starting pitcher Karsten Whitson had a whirlwind freshman season at Florida.

He and the team made the trip all the way into the final series of the College World Series in Omaha, Nebraska. They eventually lost the title game series to South Carolina.

Whitson started 19 games as a freshman, and won 8 of those. The final game of the year was his only loss in college so far.

Knowing what it feels like to get there and not win the title is all the motivation he needs this off-season.

"We came up a little bit short. For all the guys coming back it's just something that we've learned," Whitson said. "If we keep the progression then we should be national champs. But it was alot of fun."

We'll have much more of our exclusive one on one interview with Karsten coming up later this week. We'll talk with him about why he chose to got to Florida instead of taking a 2 million dollar signing bonus as the 9th overall pick in the 2010 draft. You definitely don't want to miss that story.
