Panama City Beach, FL-- Kids in this area get the chance Saturday to cast a line, free of charge at the Panama City Marina.

Half Hitch Tackle Shop is again teaming up with the Fish and Wildlife Conversvation Commission to host a kids fishing clinic.

It will start at 9 a.m. Saturday with five different information booths to teach kids how to tie knots, teach them good stewardship of the water, and then there will be a casting clinic, teach them how to get that bait way out there.

"And then after that the first 300 get a free rod and reel," says Half Hitch owner and event organizer Tom Putnam "and then get to go on the Marina, we'll provide all the bait, there will be a lot of volunteers helping them, in case their parent or guardian hasn't had the opporunity to fish before. So there will be plenty of people there to help them."

Tom says they can use a few more volunteers, they're asking you show up at 7 if you wish to help. They'll begin registering the kids at 8.
