Vero Beach, FL---The Liberty Lady Bulldogs will play for their first ever softball state championship Thursday in Vero Beach. That's because Liberty won it's 1A state semifinal Wednesday in blowout fashion, beating Taylor 14-3.
The Lady Bulldogs pounding out 17 hits on the way to those 14 runs, Chelsea Gowan leading the way with 4 hits, 3 rbi.
So Liberty, now 24-3 and making it's first trip ever to the state finals, will play for the championship Thursday against Lafayette at 11 am eastern time.
Lafayette eliminating the other Panhandle team in the first 1A semifinal Wednesday morning. That team Chipley. The Lady Tigers managed just one run on 4 hits against Lafayette's Lindsay O'steen, it was not enough. Lafayette gets the 5-1 win, ending Chipley's surprising postseason run at 10-13.
