Panama City, FL---This weekend the women's teams of Chipola and Gulf Coast will open their seasons as part of a tournament at the Harrison Field House on the G.C. campus.

Both teams under the guidance of new head coaches, so it gives local fans the chance to see the new eras begin.

Gulf Coast head coach Vernette Skeete feeling pretty good about her team as it nears the season opener, as evidenced by her answer when we asked about her team's strength so far!

"The strength is transition. We look good in transition. We like to press and if we get a steal, we can get down the floor pretty quick. Also transitioning from defense to offense pretty quick, defensive rebounding off the miss, we get down the floor pretty well. We're actually really smart, we're making good reads, to respond to each other which is a surprise, because they're getting the rotations, and they're being there. You'll hear them "run behind" so they're always supporting each others decision, so they're more confident in putting the ball on the floor and attacking the rim."

Chipola opens Friday in the G.C. gym against Central Florida at 5:30, then face Georgia Perimeter Saturday at 2. Gulf Coast plays Central Florida Saturday at 5:30 and Perimeter Sunday at 2.
