Panama City, FL---Northwest Florida, Chipola and Gulf Coast are all looking ahead to the state softball tournament set to start a week from Friday in Pensacola.
That means a good two week break between the final game of the season and the start of that tournament.
That break rather long, but there are some upsides to an extended break at this point, says Gulf Coast head coach Susan Painter.
"Well when you've played 56 ballgames you're due for a rest. I don't know if it's the best, but this time of year, just trying to heal up little nagging injuries. Have finals next week so it's good for us."
The Lady Commodores 43-13 overall, 12-4 in conference, leading them to their first Panhandle Conference title since 2006. They open up play at State next Friday at noon against South Florida.
