Panama City, FL---The season came to an abrupt and heartbreaking end for the Mosley girl's soccer team Wednesday night, as they lost in double overtime to visiting Pace at Tommy Oliver.
Mosley, the champs of 4A District 2, seemed to be controlling things in the first half with several shots on goal, but all either turned away or just missed the mark.
Late in the half, Pace's Elena Colvin able to take a long feed ahead and beat her defender and Mosley keeper Mariah Rinehart to find the back of the net, the Lady Patriots taking a 1-0 lead into the half.
In the second half Mosley scored the equalizer when Taylor Hallmon scored on an assist from Rachel Bates. Neither team able to score the rest of the second half, so they went into overtime.
The first ten minute overtime ended without a score, then late in the second overtime, Pace's Hannah Abrams scored the "golden goal" which ended the game, and Mosley's season, 2-1 the final.
The attached video shows the following:
Lady Dolphins in the home white and attacking early and often, first off the corner, dribble in to Taylor Hallmon who blasts a shot, but that's knocked away by the Pace keeper.
The ensuing corner kick, this time, goes up in the air, Steve Marie Mullins up with the header, but it misses right.
A bit later Elizabeth Vickers dribbling down the far side, feeds Kaylin Thomas as the defender falls, but again the Pace keeper there to deny it.
Then it's Hallmon working the far side, dribbling down and firing long range, that too stopped.
Mullins later from straight on, but about 30 yards out, and again the Lady Patriots goalie there to stop it.
Then late in the half, tables are turned, nice feed in to Elena Colvin who beats the defender and keeper Mariah Rinehart, it's 1-0 Pace into the half.
