Springfield, FL---The Mosley Lady Dolphins softball program entered Thursday night having never won a district championship in their history.
After the Lady Dolphins survived a walk off thriller over rival Arnold Wednesday night, the opportunity for their first title lied ahead of them in the 5A-1 final against the Lady Dolphins of Gulf Breeze, who beat Rutherford with a walk off run in the 7th Wednesday night.
At the Shamplain Sports Complex, the game was tight through the the first three innings, locked in a 0-0 pitchers duel.
Mosley starter Katie Lopes, who punched out 17 Lady Marlins in the semifinals, also brought her best stuff against Gulf Breeze.
Her teammates helped her at the plate starting in the forth, when Mallory Harrigill's bunt scored Taylor Register for the game's first run and an early lead for the green and orange.
Mosley's bat would go into overdrive the next two innings, adding five runs in each the fifth and sixth, carrying an 11-0 advantage into the bottom of the sixth.
Lopes went back to the mound, giving up one run, but coming up with two more punchouts, and giving Mosley the 11-1 win in six innings.
The senior pitcher threw 12 strikeouts and only gave up three hits over the six frames.
The victory not only gives the Lady Dolphins their first district title, but also keeps them in Lynn Haven hosting first round action of the FHSAA state tournament. The tournament's regional quarterfinals begins Thursday the 24th at 7:00 PM.

Lopes comes up with the final strikeout, her 12th on the evening.
Mosley wins 11-1 in 6, they're 5A-1 champs. it's their first district title ever.
