Springfield, FL--- In the 5A-1 district softball tournament, teams battled for a spot in the tourney's final, a guaranteed birth in the state tournament, and most importantly, to avoid seeing their season end that night with a loss.
The first of two semifinals matchups featured a battle between fierce Bay county rivals, Arnold and Mosley.
In what was a pitching duel, runs were hard to come by. The Lady Marlins scored via an unearned run in the first to take a 1-0 lead.
No one else would cross the plate until the forth, when Mosley finally got on the board. Grayson Gladden grounds out via a fielder's choice, scoring Meagan Gray to even things up at one.
That would be it for either squad in regulation, thanks to the efforts of both pitchers, Arnold's Emily Sowell and Mosley's Katie Lopes, who had 17 strikeouts for the game.
After each team had scoring chances of their own, Mosley finally capitalized in the bottom of the eighth. With the bases loaded full of Lady Dolphins, Gray's grounder goes through the legs at second base, scoring Lopes, and giving Mosley a 2-1 victory in eight innings.
They'll face Gulf Breeze in the district finals Thursday night at 6 PM.
In the attached highlights above, the action picks up with Arnold leading 1-0 in the bottom of the third, Mosley rallies to tie it, Grayson Gladden grounds to second, the fielder's choice scores Meagan Gray and it's tied at one.
