Marianna, FL---It's just about time to pack up the buses and begin the trip to Salina, Kansas for three area women's teams, and a trip to Hutchinson Kansas for the men's team of Northwest Florida.
All the area teams are busing it all the way to their respective national tournaments, with the exception of the Lady Indians of Chipola.
They have what could be seen as some small advantage over the others in terms of the travel plan. Coach Greg Franklin explains.
"Friday morning we're going to get up and bus it up to Atlanta around 6:30 and then we're gonna fly out to Wichita and then we're gonna take some vans out to Salina. It's about an hour drive, which is good for the kids. Again anything we can do to keep their legs under them, and keep them fresh for the week, is what we need to do. Obviously we appreciate the commitment our administration has made towards us, being able to do that is huge for our kids. And it shows a great deal of appreciation they have for the effort these kids have given."
Coach Franklin leading the Lady Indians to nationals in his first season at the helm there. It's Chipola's 5th trip to Salina, it's yet to win it all out there. Their first game is Monday night against Southwest Illinois.
