Lady Rams Whip Suwannee Thursday

Springfield, FL---The Rutherford girl's basketball team plays on in the state 5A playoffs. Coach Allen Kelly and his team, the champs of 5-A one, beating Suwannee Tuesday in their first round playoff game, or region quarterfinal, 62-36.

Rutherford grabbed an early lead and despite a bit of a shooting drought early in the second quarter, their early lead was never in jeopardy as they played a smothering defense against a somewhat inept Suwannee offense.

Rutherford's Marsheba Addison led the scoring with 20 as Rutherford, now 12-7 on the season, looks ahead to a region semifinal game Tuesday at Rickards, who beat Bay Thursday night 67-46.

The attached video shows the following:

Rutherford in white and jumping out to a big first quarter lead, first it's Marsheba Addison going up on the offensive glass and puttig it back.

Then off the dribble drive, #10 Tatyanna Bell connects from about 10 feet, it was 16-4 into the second quarter.

Second quarter it's back to number 22 Addison, who spins on the baseline and knocks down two more off the glass, pretty play there.

Then just before the end of the half, Alisha Williams steals, drives it in, gets the bucket and one. The Lady Rams on
¶the way to a 62-36 win.
