BAY COUNTY, Fla- The Mosley Dolphins are undefeated this season, and looking to make it back to state. One of the reasons they're playing so well is senior Chelsey Williams, who's on the verge of a remarkable milestone.
Mosley Senior Chelsey Williams is just two goals away from scoring 100 as a Mosley Dolphin.
"I just know that it's a big accomplishment for me and my teammates," Williams said. "As an individual I'm excited though."
The accomplishment is a big deal for Chelsey, and probably even bigger for her teammates.
"It's exciting that we have someone that can have so a good accomplishment for our school and our team.," said Senior Forward Hannah Nix.
"She's fun to watch," added Senior Goal keeper Emily Grammer. "It's reassuring to a keeper that can watch their team score so many goals and to know that you're going to be ahead so you don't have to worry about giving up that goal that will lose the game for you."
After scoring 98 goals over 3 and a half seasons, including 23 in 11 games this year, it would seem like 2 more would be a piece of cake, but it isn't! She had her latest chance to hit the century mark against Niceville, but it didn't happen. Chelsey says she ready to hit 100 so they can focus on winning a state title.
The Dolphins return some key players this season, and they have a new coach leading them.
"I coached the boys for 12 years, and now I have this great opportunity to coach the girls," said Coach Marek Betkowski. "I have know these girls for years, since they were like 10 years old."
It's not going to be easy from here on out but this team has made it their goal to win more than a year ago, and so far mission accomplished.
The Dolphins record for goals in a career is 144 set by Wynter Davis in the early nineties.
Chelsey next chance at racking up that 100th goal is Tuesday night at Fort Walton Beach, if Mosley wins that match, they'll nail down top seed in the district tourney.
