Bristol, FL----There are several big district games this week that will help determine a league champ, or perhaps force a three way tie for two playoff spots.
Among the games on that list, one in 1A district 4 and more specifically the game between Port St. Joe and Liberty, which is our Southern Orthopedic Specialists game of the week.
Let's focus here on the Liberty Bulldogs who will host that game Friday. Coach Grantham's team 7-2 overall, 3 and oh in district play. They're district champs if they win, if they lose, they'll likely face a three way tie for the top two spots with St. Joe and Blountstown.
"I think our kids are excited." says Liberty head coach Grant Grantham. "Really we haven't changed our routine at all. We try to keep things as normal as possible. I talk to them about what it means, but we've been talking about that all year. So really we haven't changed things a whole lot. People in Liberty County don't talk to me a whole lot during game week so that's kind of interesting. But our guys are focused and they've been focused all year and we try to keep it as normal as possible."
As for St. Joe, a team that lost two of it's first three, but has come on strong to win five in a row?
"They look like a typical Port St. Joe team," says Grantham, "they've got a lot of speed on the defense and play very physical, play hard, play tough. Do a nice job on offense mixing things up, use a lot of misdirection, run it outside then they'll run it at you. Coach Gannon's done a wonderful job over there and they look like a really quality football team."
Thursday night at ten we'll hear from coach Gannon and the St. Joe camp.
