Liberty and Bozeman Set for Region Final Showdown

Bristol/Sand Hills, FL--It certainly is going to be one crowded ball field come Friday night over in Bristol. That's because Liberty, the champ of 1-A district four, will be hosting Bozeman, the runner up in that same district, in their 1A region final.

The winner moves on to the state semifinals in Port St. Lucie next week. Liberty winning that championship the week before last by beating Bozeman on the Bucks diamond in the district title game.

Lefty JoJo Durden tossing a no hitter at the Bucks in that one. Liberty then beat Wewa Tuesday in the region semi's, the Bucks beat Sneads, setting up the 4th meeting between these two.

"I was just talking to coach Patton and it's funny because we've never played and now this year we're gonna play each other four times." says Liberty Head Coach Donnie Coxwell. "So yeah we kind of got a feel for them and I'm sure they got a feel for us."

"This will be the third time we've seen Mr. Durden," says Bozeman's Jeff Patton "and he's been a pretty good pitcher. We've split with him, obviously he no-hit us in the district championship game. We know we're gonna get his best effort and we've been doing our work to prepare for him as well."

In fact coach Patton bringing Rutherford coach Jon Hudson to toss batting practice Thursday, Hudson's a lefty, and Patton wanting his guys to get a good dose of facing a good lefty.

That game 7 eastern Friday night. Coach Coxwell says they're setting up extra bleachers, because they expect upwards of 500 fans to watch, so get there early folks.
