Local Golfer Swings Away in Future Masters in Dothan

Dothan, AL---A local player is taking his shot at the Future Masters at the Dothan Country Club, a youth golf tournament that dates all the way back to 1950!

Bay senior-to-be Samuel McLane among the more than 240 golfers competing in the 15-18 age group. Sam a 3 handicap, not having his best day, a 9 over 79, par is 70.

He knows he'll have to go much lower to make the cut following Friday's 18 holes. As for Thursday's round, Sam's certainly not blaming the course.

"For me it played tough but it's in great shape. Probably see some low scores. The greens were in immaculate shape so it's out there for someone to shoot low today."

Regardless if he makes it the final round Saturday, Sam says he's thrilled to be playing in this event for the 5th time. We wish him luck Friday and if he makes it, Saturday.
