Malone Alum Improving in Corvallis Hospital

Undated---There is good news in terms of the medical condition of Malone alum and current Oregon State freshman Chai Baker.

Chai still in the ICU at Good Samaratin Medical Center in Corvallis, still listed in critical but stable condition, though it appears he's improving as of late Thursday afternoon.

Chai's mother, Niki Baker telling Dustin Kent of the Jackson County Florida her son was brought out of sedation today, and took him off the ventilator. She says he's sitting up and able to speak, though he does not remember Monday's collapse.

She says the doctors believe he'll be able to resume playing basketball. So all that's very good news.

Doctors plan a series of diagnostic tests over the next 24 hours to determine a better prognosis for Chai.

Steve Clark, OSU's Director of University of Relations tells me folks in Malone have been sending cards and letters, those are now in a rather large box and the coaches and players will deliver them to Chai some time Friday.

There is a prayer vigil in Malone Thursday night, at the church across from the school, that begins at 7.
