Malone, FL---For area boy's basketball teams, the chance to nail down some type of state playoff berth comes Friday night.

All districts in our will be hosting district semifinal games, and if you win in the semi's, then you're guaranteed a runner up or district title and thus a playoff spot.

Among those with top seed status in their respective districts, the Malone Tigers who have been a dominating squad on the 1A level all season. At 22-2, they'll face Central tomorrow night at their district tourney in Milton. Coach Welch knows a slip up there and the season's over, so as Malone head coach Steven Welch says, it's all about the right preparation for this weekend.

"Go back to those preseason type practices, we got a four day week before we play. Just trying to focus on the little things that we started the season with. If we can do that than hopefully, you know, doing the fundamental things that you started your building blocks and kind of maybe take the nerves out of the situation. Because you're exactly right, one bad night, one great night by another team, you can be in trouble after a tremendous year."

That Malone game at Central set for 7:30, the winner of that one faces the Paxton-Bethlehem winner in the final Saturday.

The gyms at Mosley, Arnold, Catholic, Jay, Cottondale and South Walton also hosting area tournaments the next two nights.
