Marianna Preps for Visit From Liberty

Marianna, FL--It's so far so good for Marianna under first year head coach Tim Cokely. Two games, two wins, over Cottondale and Northview.

The latter a come from behind win in which they rallied from down 3 scores to win in overtime.

Next up, it's a home game Friday against Liberty, and even though that means 1-A versus 4-A, well Cokely's not expecting any kind of advantage against Liberty.

"Well the panhandle's different now." says the coach. "We have several rivals up and down this panhandle with Chipley, Liberty County, Cottondale, it doesn't matter what "A" you are. Our dads played against 'em, our granddads played against 'em and our great granddads played against 'em. We've been playing football here since 1926. So I think Liberty-Marianna back then was a big rivalry and it is now. And they've got a really good team."

Yes they do, Liberty began with a win at Graceville, then last week, lost to 5-A Bay by just one point. So they certainly don't fear playing up.

Liberty at Marianna 7 central, another one of the games we'll feature on Friday Night Overtime.
