Marianna, FL---It certainly seems like Leon's gain is Marianna's loss! After just one season at the helm, Marianna head coach Tim Cokely is leaving the Bulldogs and heading back to Tallahassee and taking the head coaching job at Leon!
He'll replace Bill Ragan who was let go recently there.
Coach Cokely telling Newschannel 7 Sports Tuesday afternoon the folks at Leon called him, offered him the job, and it's simply too good an opportunity to pass up.
He says his family considers Tallahassee home, both his sons are in college there.
As he put it "the combination of going back home and opportunity to coach at Leon is a huge honor, I didn't think he should pass it up, I didn't want to."
Cokely said telling the Marianna players Tuesday was tough, he knows kids don't look at it from a business perspective, but adds they're resilient, they'll adapt, welcome a new coach and play well next year.
Cokely adding it's tough leaving any group of kids you care about, but even tougher knowing they only lose a few seniors and will return a very good team.
Marianna 8-2 this season, both losses unfortunately in district play which kept them out of the playoffs.
The coach's last day at Marianna will be December 21st. So the Bulldogs, like Mosley, now in search mode.
