Marlins Hoping for 2-0 Start to Football Season

Panama City Beach, FL---Area prep football teams are now just two nights away from game two of the season. For the Arnold Marlins, come Friday it's the chance for a 2-0 start.

The Marlins, coming off an 35-0 win at Holmes in their season opener last Friday, get to come back to P.C. Beach and play in front of the home fans this week as they host Florida High. As for Coach Josh Wright's evaluation of that game one win in Bonifay?

"Came out of the gate a little slow. Felt like we dealt with the adversity of a little self-destruction. But we dealt with it well. Made some adjustments at halftime, kids came together and started putting things together in the second half. Defense played pretty strong, versus Holmes County. Give credit to Holmes, small roster but they got some tough kids in Bonifay."

Game two comes against Florida High, a 4-A team out of Tallahassee. We saw that squad at Tommy Oliver a couple of weeks ago against Rutherford and Mosley in that jamboree.

"Oh Florida High, they're a mauling front." says coach Wright. "Big physical offensive line. They're explosive, quick kids on their defensive front, they run to the football defensively. We know it's gonna be a dogfight. Really if we perform like we're capable of, and vice versa, and whoever takes care of the ball the best, doesn't turn it over, keeps it close will have the opportunity to win the ballgame. We're expecting a, they're an explosive team and I think it's a very even match up."

After winning in week one over a 1A team, the Marlins moving up in class as they eventually gear up for play in 5-A district 1 and the likes of Rutherford, Bay and Mosley.
