Auburn, AL---The Florida State coaching staff is watching a lot of film this Christmas week. The subject of much of that film is the guy who wears number 21 for the Auburn Tigers, running back Tre Mason. He was a Heisman finalist with 16-hundred yards rushing this season and 22 touchdowns on the ground.
In the SEC title game win over Missouri, he rushed for 306 yards and four touchdowns on 46 carries. That latter stat causing many folks to start referring to the oh-so-durable junior out of Palm Beach as a "throwback" kind of running back!
"He's got some old school in him, there's no doubt," said Auburn head coach Gus Malzahn. "He's a tough guy who wants the ball. Any time you carry it 40 plus times, he still wants it. And I've said this before I think we could have given it to him ten more times if the game was on the line. And a matter of fact, I know we could. That sounds a little crazy but that's his mentality. He's got great passion to win to want to win. And he's a big reason why we're here."
The Tigers resume practice Thursday and will continue to work out at home through Monday, they'll fly to California Tuesday.
