Tuscaloosa, AL---Everyone expects Jameis Winston's named to be called Saturday night when the Heisman Trophy is handed out. There will be 5 other top flight players with front row seats to that announcement.
Alabama quarterback AJ McCarron will be one of them. AJ named Monday as one of the 6 finalists for the award.
McCarron's numbers this year, very good. He's a 67 percent passer, 27 hundred yards, 26 td's and just 5 picks, an 11-1 season.
And perhaps there's a little "lifetime achievement" feel to his being a finalist. At any rate, AJ's going to the Big Apple for Saturday's ceremony. A trip to NYC believe it or not, hasn't always been high on his list beyond football.
"I always said I wouldn't go to New York" McCarron says "unless I was voted on for the Heisman ceremony or at the draft day in New York. So one of those dreams has come true and I can't thank everybody enough, that has helped me get to this point, especially my teammates."
