Undated----It's safe to say a couple of locals currently on big league rosters are enjoying some recent success. Those two Clete Thomas, a Mosley alum, and Marianna's Jeff Mathis.
Clete began the season with the Twins Triple-A club, and because of injury to one of Minnesota's outfielder, got called up June 3rd.
Thomas taking advantage of that opportunity, having played in 25 games before Thursday, hitting at a 264 clip with 3 homers and 7 rbi.
He's really come up with some clutch hits, although the Twins recently have been sputtering, losing 9 of 13/10 of 13 including today's win/loss to the Yank's.
As for Mathis, a broken collarbone in a spring game forced him to miss the first month and a half of the season on the d.l.
He was activated in mid-May but was playing behind the team's other catcher Jeff Brantley. Lately though he's forced Marlins skipper Mike Redmond to keep Mathis in the lineup.
He's hitting just 162, but has come up with big hits in each of the last five games, with a grand slam, three run triple, 13 rbi total. He's tied a Marlins record with 2 rbi or more in 5 straight games.
