Mosley Moves Past Wakulla in FHSAA Regional Quarterfinals

Crawfordville, FL---The Mosley Dolphins didn't plan on opening their run towards a state championship on the road, but after dropping their 5A-1 Title game to Rutherford last Thursday, they traveled to Wakulla for their regional quarterfinals matchup.

At first, the War Eagles used home field to their advantage, taking an early 1-0 led after the first inning. But the Dolphins bats woke up, leading the green and orange offense to build a 7-1 lead of their own after four.

Yet Wakulla continued to fight, eventually evening up the ballgame at 7-7 in the sixth. Neither side could break the tie after seven, so they were off to extras.

It took till the top of the tenth for a run to come across for either side. That's where Weston Bizzle's RBI single up the middle scored Brendan Fox, giving the visiting Dolphins a 8-7 lead that they would hold on to in the bottom half of the final frame.

Mosley moves to 25-3 with the victory and gets another crack at Rutherford, the team that defeated them in the district tournament final. They'll play in the regional semifinals in Springfield Tuesday.

Jake Webb up with the bases loaded in the first, smacks it to left. First run of the game crosses home, giving Wakulla a 1-0 lead.

In the second, two on for Bowen McGuffin. He takes it the other way as the ball drops down the line. Both runners score, putting Mosley up 2-1.

A bit later, a break falls for the Dolphins. Connor Green grounds to the right side, it goes through the first baseman's legs. Two more Mosley runs score making it 6-1.

'Fins would build a 7-1 lead, give that lead up but eventually win it in extra innings, 8-7 in 9. Now 25-3 Mosley gets another crack at Rutherford Tuesday in the region semi's.
