Lynn Haven, FL--It is just about time for most area high school football teams to tee it up and play for real. The first regular season games begin this week, with many teams in Friday night games.
That includes the Mosley Dolphins who will travel a bit to the east Friday afternoon to take on Wakulla, a 5A powerhouse.
This match up serving as our Southern Orthopedic Specialists game of the week. Here's Coach Perry Brown's assessment of that opener including some thoughts on facing the team last year.
"Yeah Wakulla came over here last year and got us week one, beat us over here. You know they got a good team, made it to the state championship game last year. And we played really good for three quarters. It was a touchdown difference, midway in the 4th quarter."
The War Eagles going on to win that game by 17. Brown doesn't expect Wakulla to be much different this year, really physical, some speed, good skill position players. Quite the opponent to get things going, no doubt about that.
"You know I'm anxious to go over there and play them." says coach Brown. "I think it's good to play good teams. It's only gonna make you better. They're very physical, Wakulla's very physical. Like I say their lineman are very big, they get after you and they've got really good skill people. So it's definitely gonna be a test for us. But it's a good one, it definitely gives you an idea of where you're at."
That game in Crawfordville set for 7:30 eastern time. We'll have the highlights for you along with all the action from around our region tomorrow night on the first edition of Friday Night Overtime.
