Mosley to Share Football District with County Brethren

Lynn Haven, FL---It's official, the Mosley football team will play for at least the next two years alongside 3 of it's county rivals in 5A district 1!

Thursday we learned Mosley had won it's appeal to move from 6A to 5A, that based on the fact it was within ten percent of the population cutoff of just over 15 hundred. And economically, it made sense to play in a 5A district alongside it's county brethren.

Mosley athletic director Danny Nagy telling us Thursday they had yet to be notified as to exactly how the district assignments would come down.

Especially given the fact Pensacola Catholic was petioning to move up in class. With 7 teams in the area eligible for that district, they could have split those 7 into two districts.

Instead the state deciding to go with all 7 in one league.
So the new look 5A-District 1 has Arnold, Bay, Rutherford and Mosley all together. The FHSAA also approved Catholic moving up from 4-A, so they join the party. That means 3 Pensacola area teams (West Florida and Gulf Breeze the other two) are in that district.

So two of the Bay County schools will make two trips that way
the first year, then one trip west the second year of this cycle.

There's one other change involving an area district, it comes on the 1A level, with Blountstown staying in the class, but moving from district 4 over to district 3, so that's now a 5 team district with Bozeman, Chipley, Holmes and South Walton.

Below are the new districts talked about above:
