Lynn Haven, FL--Simply put the biggest road trip in the relatively short history of Mosley girl's weightlifting is set for Friday and Saturday. Friday morning Coach Clint Whitfield and 11 girl's will load up and head to Kissimmee, site of the State Meet.

Saturday the Lady Dolphins will compete for state titles, both as a team and as individuals. Not bad for a squad under the guidance of a first year coach. Whitfield says this about the team's accomplishments.

"I was lucky enough to inherit such a great group of ladies this year. They work hard, they're self motivated, they know what they have to do achieve greatness. And they work hard every day that I ask them to and that's why we're taking so many girls to State this year."

Taking 11 lifters to Kissimmee gives Mosley the chance for it's first ever team title, and increased the odds of a Mosley girl winning an individual title for the school, which would be a first. So to say the least, the girl's are excited, and so are their classmates, as Kayla Holder is finding out.

"They are really excited, they can't believe how many girls are going and how big it got throughout the years. And they're like wow, you can bench that much. Wow! A girl can do that, it's crazy."

Alexis Taylor will compete for Mosley in the unlimited Class.

"It's good, it's like, we're gonna do our best no matter what, we're gonna beast it out, beast mode. I'm very excited, we're all very excited. I mean the whole team is basically seniors, we have 8 seniors, so we're really excited."

Whitfield believes the experience some of the girl's got last year at the State Meet will help them in their return trip Saturday.

"Many of our girls have been down before. I think five of our seniors went last year so they really know what to expect. It's going to be intimidating for everyone involved. But these girls have risen to the challenge all year long and out-competed much of our opponents, and I think they'll do the same when we go to Kissimmee."

Taylor, by the way, competing despite tearing the a-c-l and meniscus in her left knee before sectionals, so she qualified for state with that injury, and will compete again at State knowing surgery awaits.
