Panama City, FL--The Harrison Field House on the Gulf Coast campus is a rather busy place these days, as both G.C. basketball teams work towards the start of the 2012-2013 season.
The Lady Commodores in fact working towards their first season under a new head coach.
Vernette Skeete and her team just over two weeks into official fall practice. If you spend even a little bit of time watching them work, well it's easy to see the pace of practice is rather up-tempo.
Coach Skeete saying it's very important in this league the players be in tip top shape and be able to play at an accelerated pace.
"They're loving the tempo because once we get up and down they love how it feels. To be able to run the floor and stretch out and make passes over the top and run full speed and get layups in transition. But the conditioning, they have struggled a little bit with that, it's always tough, the first part, it's always hard, when they're trying to condition and get in shape. You know nobody likes that. But they learn to love it, the appreciate what it does for them."
Gulf Coast returns 6 from a team that made it to the state final game last season. They open at home November 3rd against Central Florida as part of a season opening tourney at Gulf Coast.
