Niceville Prepares for Playoff Opener

Niceville, FL---For a select few area football teams this week marks the start of the playoffs.

8 area teams in fact are looking ahead to Friday night and their respective postseason openers.

Count Niceville among those 8. Finishing off a 9-1 record with a win over Bolles last week, the Eagles will host Leon in the 7A Region Quarterfinals.

Starting quarterback Ashton Hooker still dealing with a hand injury, coach Hicks hoping he can go Friday, but that's not certain at this point, says head coach John Hicks.

"Well he's better. I would say he's about 70 percent, probably right now. But we'll see as the week goes along, if he's not a hundred percent, we'd rather not play him. So we'll see how that goes as the week goes along. And you know last week, our backup, Drew Fredric he set a school record for passing so obviously we've got a lot more confidence in him now as we go into this week."

And with the likes of Eli Stove, Tayjon Culley and Tyree McCants surrounding whatever qb is in there, well the Eagles are capable on offense. That game in Niceville Friday set for 7:30.
