Panhandle Media Day Monday in Niceville

Niceville, FL---It's not too long before the basketball teams of the Panhandle Conference are back on the court for real. With that in mind, the conference Monday day hosting it's annual men's basketball coaches media day at Northwest Florida State.

All the coaches gathering for a little lunch, and the chance to meet with the media, talk about their teams and the season ahead. Here's Northwest Florida State head coach Steve Forbes.

"It's always good to get everybody together and talk about your teams, it's kind of the kickoff to the season. You know every conference in the country, division one, has a media day, so it's always good to get together and talk about what you've been going through so far and maybe what you see down the road."

New Chipola head coach Patrick Blake said his second time around at this event was a bit different than the first!

"I had been to one before as an assistant. But obviously very different coming in as a head coach. I have a lot of respect for the coaches in this league, you know, it being the best conference in the country, it's always great to get around great basketball minds and see, you know compare stories and how their preseasons have been going. Just really enjoyed today."

All three area squads open next weekend, Chipola at a tournament in Baton Rouge, Gulf Coast at a tourney in Aiken South Carolina, and the Raiders will host a season opening tournament next Friday and Saturday.
