NICEVILLE, Fla- While football season is winding down, basketball season is reaching the important part of the year. In Juco hoops it's time finally for conference play.

Non-conference record doesn't matter when it comes to getting into the state tournament.

The conference record is what matters to make it to post season play, and for the defending Panhandle Conference and state champion Northwest Florida State Raiders that's what they are focused on.

The Raiders have started the season well going 15-1 with a 1 point loss their only blemish this year.

They have pretty much a new squad too, with only two returning players, but they say they're ready for a very tough Panhandle conference slate that starts with Pensacola State.

"As far as the conference goes everybody knows the Panhandle conference is tough. You cannot take one night off because on any night somebody can beat you." Head coach Joe Richardson said. "We gotta take it one game at a time starting on January 5th and just go from there."

The Raiders will open the new Raider Arena on Wednesday against PSC. Game time for the men is set for 7:30 p.m. Wednesday night.
