Panama City, FL---There's good news for the Bay and West Gadsden football faithful. There will be one more game for each this 2013 season.
Teams in the state get to play 10 regular season games, and for Bay game ten came last week, the 19-0 loss to Mosley. That left the Tornadoes with 2-4 district mark and well out of the state playoff picture. But Bay's overall record is 5-5, and the state allows any team that finishes at 500 or better the option to go and secure a postseason bowl game.
That's exactly what Bay head coach Jimmy Longerbeam and A.D. Vern Barth did. They've arranged a bowl game with West Gadsden, next Wednesday, November 13th.
Coach Joey Striplin and the Panthers, in white here in their game against Chipley, earlier this season, currently boasting a 5-4 record pending their final game this Friday at home against Wewahitchka, so they'll finish either 6-4 or 5-5.
Coach Longerbeam telling Newschannel 7 Sports says he's thrilled to get this game, it's another opportunity he says for his kids to practice for an extra week and a half. And it gives them something to look forward, the chance to play one more time.
Longerbeam says they'll work to make this bowl game special for all involved, including the two teams sharing a special, pregame meal, and all the players will get bowl game t-shirts that are going to be printed up special for the game.
