Paxton Beats Chiefland, Plays for 1A Championship Thursday

Lakeland, FL---It's an all Panhandle 1A State Championship game Thursday in Lakeland. Paxton joining Chipley in that game with a 53-41 semifinal win over Chiefland Wednesday afternoon at the Lakeland Center.

The Lady Bobcats jumped out to 3 point lead by the end of the first quarter, then stretched it to 6 by halftime, leading 22-16. They were able to not only hold on to that lead but doubled it by the end, winning by the 12 point margin.

Paxton with three players in double figures in scoring, led by Katie Sebastian, who had 14. Emily Murray added 12, and Bethany Neal scored 10.

The Lady Bobcats are making their 6th appearance at the state finals, and are gunning for their 5th girl's basketball state championship. The most recent title coming in 1997.
