Paxton Beats Chipley 39-34 for 1A Title

Lakeland, FL---The Paxton Lady Bobcats are once again the champions of their class across the state of Florida. Paxton getting a 39-34 win over Chipley in the 1A state title game Thursday at the Lakeland Center.

The Lady Tigers seemed to control the action in the first half, taking a 21-18 lead into the break. The Lady Bobcats though, led by a game high 20 points from Emily Murray, who was 4 of 8 from beyond the arc, rallied in the second half.

A 12-4 third quarter advantage turned the game around and allowed Paxton to go on to get the 5 point win.

It is the 6th state championship for Paxton and the first since the program won back to back titles in 1996 and 1997.

For Chipley it's a second straight season of final game heartbreak. Last year Chipley lost to South Walton in the title game.
