Lynn Haven, FL-- It's official, Phoenix Racing Team owner James Finch says he's going with David Ruetimann behind the wheel of the 51 Chevy at Pocono this weekend.
Finch needing a replacement driver up there after NASCAR yesterday slapped Phoenix driver Kurt Busch with a one race suspension, along with extending his probation through the remainder of the year.
All that following some events at Dover last weekend. Busch exchanged paint and then words with Justin Allgaier. Following that he verbally abused a reporter.
That comes on the heel of the original probation and 50 thousand dollar fine for an incident several weeks ago between Busch and Ryan Newman and his crew.
These problems, along with the fact Finch says Busch has wrecked 14 cars so far this season leaves the relationship between owner and driver on thin ice.
That's aggravated by the fact the team's desperate for a major sponsor, and Busch is hurting the cause.
Finch now says their relationship will be on "race to race" basis telling SiriusXM NASCAR Radio on Tuesday "Here's the deal: Quit wrecking the cars, get a good finish, be nice to people. That's not real hard to do. It's affecting me. If I can't get a sponsor, I can't keep running without a sponsor. That's a slow death. I don't want to do that."
Finch said he planned to meet with Busch next week, likely on Tuesday.
