Phoenix With Good Feeling After Sonoma

Lynn Haven, FL--It's safe to say James Finch and his Phoenix Construction Services Cup team are feeling pretty good about themselves heading into the next few races.

Those good feelings due to Kurt Busch driving the 51 Chevy to a third place finish Sunday at the Save Mart 350 in Sonoma California.

We spoke with Finch Monday afternoon and he says the team feels really good about that finish, though as James puts it, he would feel a lot better with a win.

James says Busch hit the tires on the side of the track with five lapss to go which damaged the back of the car, preventing Kurt from overtaking eventual winner Clint Bowyer. Tony Stewart passed Busch on the final lap, and Finch says they were luck to finish given the damge to the rear of the car.

Still Finch says a top three finish, given their struggles this Cup season, "is like going from the outhouse to the penthouse."

He says they need to keep running near the lead, and proving to potential sponsors they can compete with the top teams.

Finch already has a sponsor for the Brickyard late next month, and is still talking with other sponsors about more long term deals.

This week they'll race in Kentucky, then race two races next week at Daytona.
