Pirates Set to Kick Off 2013 Season

Panama City Beach, FL---To the pitch as they say and later this week we get to see the debut of the 2013 version of the Panama City Beach Pirates

The Pirates, after a series of tryouts and some recruiting, have assembled the team that will represent our area in the Premier Development League.

Greg DeVito will coach the squad for a second straight year, he a former collegiate and PDL player.

The team finishing up it's preseason training this week. It will play an exhibition Wednesday against Orlando at Harder's Park, then host that same Orlando team in the regular season opener Saturday at Gavlak.

"The players arrived in Panama City Beach two weeks ago," says coach DeVito "so we've been training for our first match coming up on the 25th of May. The players are buzzing, they can't wait to play against Orlando City, get back into the season and pick up where we left off. This team from last year's team we have 7 returning players. And it's not that similar because a lot of players moved on, so we've got a lot of fresh players coming in to improve things from last year. That's what we're trying to do always, is move players to the professional level while at the same time improve from season to season."

The "friendly" Wednesday night set for 6:30 at Harders. The season opener Saturday at Gavlak at 7:15.
