Pirates Win First Game of Season

Panama City Beach, FL---The whole country has officially caught World Cup Fever, as people can't get enough of the pitch!

Lucky for the area, the Panama City Beach Pirates returned home to face IMG Bradenton Saturday night at Gavlak.

Anthony Arico gave PCB the lead in the 19th minute on a header, so Pirates up a goal and trying to add to that in the 23rd on a beautiful long pass ahead to Ricky Hoegge, who makes a run, is brought down in the box with some contact, but no call from the refs. It got chippy out there as Bradenton looks for their equalizer.

In the 42nd minute, the cross goes inside to Ale Fritz in the box, but his shot attempt sails way past the goal.

One minute later, IMG gets their best chance to tie, when Raul Gonzalez's header hits the far post, the follow from Bakie Goodman, sails over the crossbar.

The Pirates take a 1-0 lead into the lockeroom and go on to win by that score, the team's first victory this season. They're now 1-3-2.
