Panama City Beach, FL--The Panama City Beach Pirates are proving that they will be tough to beat on the home field this season, and in fact tough to score on.
Friday night the Pirates of the Premier Development League winning their second match in three tries so far this season, both wins coming at Gavlak and with 2-0 scores.
It was aerfect night to be at the park, with just under 600 fans taking advantage of the nice conditions and coming out to show their support the local team.
The Pirates had some early opportunities with a couple of direct kicks for David Malloy but twice he fired a bit too high for any of his mates to get a head or a foot on it.
Pirates goalie Jeremy Crompton making a rather impressive diving save just before the 20 minute mark on a shot just to his right from about 15 yards out.
Then with about 20 minutes left in the first half, Malloy again, another kick in, this time Drew Russell able to get the header past the opposing keeper and into the back of the net. Pirates took the 1-0 lead at the half, and add another goal in the second to win 2-zip. So the Pirates now 2-1 on the season.
The Pirates are back on the road this weekend for a match at Jacksonville Sunday.
