Port St. Joe's Pryor Gets Feel for the Pro Game in his NFL Debut

CINCINNATI, OH-- Saturday night will be a moment in time that Jets rookie safety Calvin Pryor will never forget.

The former Port St. Joe star, now first round pick of Gang Green made his professional debut in New York's second preseason matchup in Cincinnati. After missing the first exhibition game with a concussion, Pryor proved to his team he's back at full strength and his presence was worth the wait.

Making an instant impact, Calvin recovered a fumble in the second quarter, a key turnover that sparked the momentum shift in the game and led to a New York touchdown. The former Shark star also led the team in tackles with seven and had two deflected passes.

The Jets got the 25-17 win and a great debut from the pride of Port St. Joe.

"It was great just to get a feel for the game because this is going to be a long season ahead," said Pryor. "I came out here to make plays tonight and I got more comfortable within myself as the game went on. From here on out, I'm just gonna go back in the film room, study what I need to study so I can go out and make more plays.

With injuries running wild in the Jets defensive backfield, including to former Alabama corner Dee Milliner, Pryor's presence comes when it's needed most.

"We talked about it. We had some guys go down, but it's another great opportunity for someone to step up and be that guy, especially at the corner position. We have a lot of guys down at corner, so someone has to step up. And we're all on the same page, we believe in one another. Anything's possible.

Next up for Calvin and Gang Green is a big apple brawl and his first rivalry matchup in the pros. The Meadowlands will host New York Jets vs. New York Giants at 6:30 PM Friday.
