NICEVILLE, Fla- It was a big night Thursday for the Northwest Florida State Raiders as they played the last game in Raider Gym.
Since 1972 the Raiders have called the gym home, but last night was the final game to be played there. The Raiders picked up a big 110-82 win over Delgado to close out play there. It has been home to Men's and women's teams that have combined for 11 Panhandle Conference titles, seven state titles and one national title. And the list of great memories go on and on.
"A number of great teams have played in this gym, great coaches have coached here," said men's head coach Joe Richardson. "And the fans are ridiculous. They come out every night and support this team. We're going to miss this place, I mean this is one of the tougher gyms in the conference to play in."
The Raiders won't stay nostalgic for too long though. The Basketball teams will move into their new 31 million dollar state of the art Raider Arena and begin play in January.
