Marianna, FL---It's not a playoff game but it might as well be. Saturday night Northwest Florida plays at Chipola, those two tied with Pensacola atop the men's standings at 7-4 each.
The Raiders and Indians split their first two games, each winning at home. Whoever wins the game at Chipola Saturday, nails down a state playoff berth.
If Pensacola beats Gulf Coast, the loser in Marianna is out. If the Commodores knock off the Pirates, the loser in Marianna heads into a one game playoff with Pensacola.
So some different scenarios for sure, but again, one thing is certain, win at the Johnson Health Center Saturday, and you're into the state tournament! So pressure packed for sure, though Chipola head coach Patrick Blake is working to keep his guys oblivious to that.
"Oh absolutely, and we're just trying to do a good job on focusing on what we can control, not letting it be a distraction. But more of a motivation to maybe box out, to get that loose ball on the floor. But it just comes down to playing basketball. The team that makes the least mistakes and does the best job on the defensive end is going to win."
Blake says his team is back at full strength now, Bowers and Graham off suspension before the win at Tallahassee. That men's game set for 7:30, we'll have the highlights for you Saturday night after the Olympics.
