Hutchinson, KS---The Northwest Florida men's basketball team is back in the national semifinals for the second straight year. Coach Steve Forbes and his team able to get past Iowa Western Thursday afternoon in Hutchinson 87-81 in overtime.
Once again the Raiders playing a back and forth game against a very talented team. The two sides traded the lead several teams in both halves, with Northwest getting a late bucket by Elgin Cook which tied the game at 72 with ten seconds to play. Cook fouled while making that shot, had the chance to put his team ahead by one, but missed the free throw. Iowa Western then turned the ball over at midcourt which sent the game into overtime.
The Raiders dominated the extra play, with Cook and Jones contributing big buckets, leading to the 6 point win. Cook leading the Raiders with 22 points and 7 rebounds, Tevin Glass chipped in with 20 points, All-American guard Chris Jones adding 19.
So Northwest Florida now 29-3 will face 33-2 Vincennes in the semifinals Friday at 6 central. The Raiders are hoping to make back to back trips to the national championship game.

A bit later, another quick transition for the Raiders, the first layup is no good, but Elgin Cook there to clean it up, 37-36 Northwest at the half.
Second half they continue to swap the lead, down two, the Raiders tie it when Chris Jones drives and scores.
Stays one possession until the final seconds, Raiders down 72-70, Cook penetrates and scores, gets fouled, but he misses the free throw, Iowa would turn it over as the clock ran down, so they went to overtime.
There the Raiders get a big play from Tevin Glass, who drives and one, three point play, then it's Jones driving and scoring. The Raiders get the overtime win 87-81, Cook with 22, Glass 20, Jones had 19. Now 29-3, Northwest into the national semi's Friday at 6 against 33-2 Vincennes.
