Hutchinson, KS--There is one more game to play for the Northwest Florida State men's basketball team. That game just happens to be the Juco National Championship game Saturday night in Hutchinson Kansas.
That's because Northwest Florida came away with a 77-64 win Friday night in their semifinal game against Seward County, a school that was considered the home team in the tourney, hailing from about an hour west of Hutchinson.
Northwest playing well enough in the first half to post an 8 point lead at the break, 38-25.
In the second half, they were able to answer every Seward comeback attempt. Good defense and timely shooting the calling card for the Raiders, who never lost the lead in the second half.
They pull away to win by 13, 77-64. The Raiders again getting a very good effort from sophomore guard and conference player of the year Chris Jones. He led the way with 24.TC Clemmons chipping in with 115 on 5-7 shooting. Trency Jackson and Rod Rucker also in double figures in scoring with 11 and 10 point respectively. i
Now 32-1, Raiders into the championship game tomorrow night at 8 against 35-and oh and top ranked South Plains Texas. Northwest will be looking to haul in it's second men's national championship, the other coming in 1995 under then coach Murray Arnold.
